Our top-notch health and safety policies make Katavi Mining Company Limited a safer place to work. The Company strives to create and maintain a healthier mining industry. Reflecting the overall safety performance, the injury frequency rate for the region improved from 0.8 in 2014 to 0.5 per million hours in 2018. In addition, in 2018, no loss incidents have occurred. The Company offers excellent health and sanitation facilities, adequate water supply and many other amenities to its employees.

Despite our concerted efforts to totally eradicate malaria and typhoid, the situation continues to rise in the Continental African area. We regularly conduct malaria and typhoid control awareness programmes, and made progress in significantly reducing the number of reported cases.

Katavi Mining Company Limited has put in place highly integrated risk control programmes, systems and structures to detect potential infection risks early. The Company’s powerful infection control measures continue to strengthen the scrutiny and assessment of risks, and the management of Katavi Mining Company Limited takes appropriate and timely action. The Company makes significant progress in reducing and controlling the incidents of intestinal sickness in and around its operations. During 2013-2019, the number of employees with malaria has reported a drastic decline.
